Election Pondering the Elections

DeadVotersEven if you don’t live in Tennessee, you may have some of the same problems as in Tennessee (you will just have to forgive me when I digress into specific candidates).   Tennessee (and most other states) needs election reform.  Let me say, election reform is NOT a conservative or liberal issue.  Having fair and honest elections that do not make voters feel marginalized is an issue of liberty.  There are several issues that need to be addressed...

voteThere was a time when I said there was no way I would ever vote for John McCain.  I disagree with too many of his positions.  Frankly, I considered McCain to be a RINO (Republican in name only-Go Hayworth) and I still do.  Then in 2008, it came time to decide, McCain or Obama.  “We’ll punish the GOP,” many said and chose not to vote.  Like many, I too was disgusted with the GOP in general and McCain in particular, but in the end I held my nose and voted for McCain.  Sitting out the election by so many only led to Obama’s election and all that entails; our new government mandated healthcare system (which funds abortion) and a reversal of the Mexico City Policy (resulting in taxpayer funded abortions overseas) are just two examples.

There was also a time when I said I would never support a candidate who was pro-abortion.  However, in the middle of the healthcare fight an opportunity arose to elect a GOP candidate who promised to be the 41st vote to stop the federal takeover of our healthcare system, Scott Brown.  However, Brown supports abortion.  Could I support Brown?

VoteThe 2010 election is our opportunity to vote out as many Progressive/Socialist/Communist/Marxist/over-spending/over-taxing/over-regulating/anti-family/anti-feedom/anti-business politicians as possible to stop this destructive path our Federal Government is on before we end up looking like Greece at best or China and Russia at worst.  However, it’s not easy to know who to vote for.  The main (lame) stream media (LSM) actively work to not just spin information in favor of their candidate, but have actually worked to hide information that did not serve their agenda.  Plus, you have corrupt candidates who will say anything to get elected and then start selling their votes to lobbyists the minute they get elected.  Someone once said, “All candidates call Washington a cesspool, but once they get elected it quickly becomes a whirlpool.”

It seems that the 2010 elections are going to be a big opportunity for the Republican party to make big gains or possibly take control of the House or Senate. In order to gain a majority, the Republicans would need to pick up 10 Senate seats or about 70 House seats. That's a daunting task; however, there does seem to be a growing grassroots movement to "kick the bums out of office". The strategy for the Republicans needs to be to make sure they are not identified as the bums.

To put the 2010 elections in proper context, it is traditional for the opposing party to gain ground in year two of a newly elected president's first term. The infamous Republican revolution in 1994 led by Newt Gingrich ushered in 54 new Representatives and 8 Senators. That gave Republicans control of the House for the first time in 40 years. Of course, the implications of this revolution greatly affected Clinton's last 6 years in office, because he had to work with Republicans to get anything accomplished since all revenue legislation originates in the House.
